Women, Infants and Community Outreach Foundation (WICOF) acknowledges the efforts by the Tanzanian Government to provide various social services to her citizens. However, most of the vulnerable people, especially those in rural settings are not yet adequately served. Moreover, increase in poverty, underage pregnancies, elderly (due to increase in life span from 49 to 61 years) inherited and chronic diseases, and population calls for deliberate efforts from other development partners and non-governmental organisations like WICOF to complement the Government efforts. Furthermore, recent nation-wide reports on abuse and killings of the disabled people including those with albinism and the elderly are among the motives towards establishment of WICOF. In addition, most vulnerable people experience stigmas and segregation; to prevent traumatic situations to these people psychological support is essential. Therefore, the overall objective of WICOF is to contribute to the community development through provision of quality and accessible social, medical and psycho social support to the vulnerable in the community.
